The Missionaries of Charity, founded in India in 1950, was formed to tend to those who were unwanted, uncared for and unloved. Mother Teresa felt that the greatest need of the world was not hunger, but loneliness and the sense of being unwanted. By the time of her death, the organization was running more than 610 missions in 123 countries, such as orphanages, homes for the dying, leprosy centers, soup kitchens, schools and counseling programs.

Mother Teresa’s Charity Home in Agra serves as a hospice for the chronically ill and those dying. Managed by the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa nuns The home is:

Keenly interested in home and child life, she has visited and worked among some 48 children in orphanages or in impoverished homes and villages

Close to 150 elderly adults who are sick and helpless in the hands of their death in the dark dungeons of Indian homes for the aged

The mission is dependent on private donations and volunteer support. Everything done here begins and ends with dignity and compassion and love, unconditional love.
