Red Fort Delhi – A Magical Sound and Light Heritage Experience

The 17th century Red Fort of Delhi is ‘restored’ to its past splendor every evening during a Light and Sound Show showcasing the eventful history of India’s capital. An experience now a must-do for visitors to Delhi this is much more than a show; be prepared to encounter the city’s past evening after evening.

A creation of the Tourism Department of the Delhi Government, the show is a wonderful combination of narration, sound effects, and lighting. Set against the stunning Red Fort’s ancient walls, centuries of history play out—bringing erased histories, legendary rulers, and defining moments to life. This tour is great for first-timers, history buffs, and families alike, giving a leisurely, and informative, look into Delhi’s rich heritage during the evening.

About the Red Fort Light and Sound Show

The show undertakes the story telling of the history of Delhi from Napoleonic age till the time. It starts in the period of Pandavas, when Indraprastha was established, and travels through the tenure of historical personalities like Draupadi, Prithviraj Chauhan, Razia Sultan, Sher Shah Suri, Emperor Humayun, and Bahadur Shah Zafar, ending with British rule. It tells of the rise and fall of empires, political conspiracies, bravery, sacrifice and cultural renaissances. With the fort bathed in dramatic colours and a riveting voiceover unfolding the story, it’s cinematic and so captivating.

The duration of the Show is approx 0.55 hr and the languages available are Hindi and English (there is a short Interval between both Versions). Show timings are subject to change as per the season, show starts at dusk to tune with the sunset.
